Places to Go on the Web – Great Photo Sites Issue 9

leave a comment »

I love photography. Not only do I love to take photographs, I love to talk, teach, and explore photography. I also like to look at great photographs to get ideas on how I can be a better photographer.
If you have any interest in digital photography, then a visit to some of these sites is worth your time. Looking at great photos will help make your own photos better because you can get ideas, tips and see what and how others are photographing their subjects. As your cruise Cyberspace, spend a few minutes looking at these Websites:

Peter Yang: Whimsical might be the best word to describe Peter Yang’s photography. The Texas-born photographer is a regular contributor to Rolling Stone, ESPN Magazine and Wired. His images are impressively lit and well defined. When you visit his site, BE SURE to check out the “Cowboys” gallery.

Albert Watson: Albert Watson has made stunning images for nearly 4 decades. He has nearly 250 covers of Vogue magazine and has been published in numerous other publications. He has created images for various advertising campaigns such as Levi’s, Gap and Chanel. Make sure your volume is on when you visit his Website. You can spend countless hours there.

Mark Seliger: It might be easier to list the people Mark Seliger HASN’T photographed than it is to list those who have appeared in front of his lens. Seliger, another Texas photographer who made today’s list, is a contract photographer for Conde Nast Publications where he has shot numerous covers for Vanity Fair and GQ. Prior to Conde Nast, Seliger was chief photographer for Rolling Stone where he shot more than 100 covers. Here’s just a few of artists he’s photographed: Willie Nelson, BB King, Sean Combs, John Mayer, Johnny Cash, Jerry Garcia and Kurt Cobain.
